PAPSS is a financial market infrastructure that streamlines instant, cross-border payments in local currencies between African countries. With a goal of serving all African countries, PAPSS is currently present in 12 African countries namely Ghana, Nigeria, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea, Gambia, Djibouti, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Zambia, Rwanda, and Malawi.

The prevailing exchange rate is updated daily between the payment banks in line with market dynamics.
  • Ghanaians – Ghana Card
  • Foreigners – Non-citizen Ghana card
PAPSS has a goal of serving all African countries. The Beneficiary bank must be a PAPSS participating bank. Visit a branch or call our contact centre for confirmation.
  • Retail/ Individuals: Can transact up to $10,000 per year without documentation and unlimited with supporting documents in line with the Foreign Exchange Act 2006, Act 723.
  • Corporate/ SMEs: Can transact up to $200,000 per year with initial documentation in line with the Foreign Exchange Act 2006, Act 723 and unlimited with supporting documents.
The Pan African Payment and Settlement Systems (PAPSS) is a financial market infrastructure developed by African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) to streamline and facilitate real-time cross-border payments and settlements within Africa.
